From the beginning,
Carpe Diem's aim has been to provide our customers with a complete
picture of the wealth of beauty, tradition and adventure that is
Cambodia. By avoiding sanitised, impersonal "tourist traps"; choosing
friendly, locally-run hotels and guesthouses; organizing overland
travel that takes you through the deepest countryside; and employing
trusted local people we bring you the kind of experience normally only
available to the seasoned traveller.
The company's owners, an English/Dutch couple, are both resident in Cambodia, and one of them will accompany you at all stages of the trip. Small groups of no more than eight people on any one trip , the use of boats, trains and motorcycles, and the knowledge of our local guides combine to bring you much closer to the country. Our journeys not only provide you with Cambodia's "highlights" such as Angkor Wat and the Royal Palace, but takes you well away from the tourist trail, meeting the country's people and understanding more about their culture and way of life. Our policy of paying fair salaries to local staff and our ongoing in-country training programs ensure that Cambodia benefits directly from your holiday. Our respect for the country, borne from our long experience living and working here, is central to our travel philosophy.
